A Month with Myan

November 11th, 2008, late in the morning

Myan is a month old!  Wow.  It’s been a great month.  Myan is wonderful, Liah adores him, people seem to really like his name, and we’ve had so many family & friends come meet him!  Aparna is doing great.  Sure she wishes she had a better husband, but what’s life without challenges?

Of course, life is incredibly busy, and as part of that, i’ve been negligent in posting to the blog.  I’ve been doing a decent job of putting photos of Myan (& Liah) up on my Gallery, but I’ll start featuring some moments from the past month this week.

Celebrating Victory!

November 4th, 2008, in the wee hours

Listening to Obama speaking right now.  I am so happy he won, and so proud of America.  What a great night.

Ready to Celebrate

November 4th, 2008, around dinnertime

We’re at the Regan’s house to watch the results.  Matt & I are dressed appropriately, we both have laptops, and the 50″ plasma is tuned to CNN.  :)

+1 for Obama

October 20th, 2008, in the wee hours

Today was the first day of early voting in Texas for the November 2008 elections, so I dropped by an early voting location and voted!  It was nice to finally be able to actually vote for Obama after all these months of supporting his candidacy.  Granted, it’s not looking like he is going to win Texas, but I did my part to help his overall vote count.  There were also some down ballot races I am interested in, but it’s not looking like those folks will win either.  (I’m hoping to be surprised.)

Go vote!!!

First Bike

October 16th, 2008, late in the evening

Liah’s been asking for a bike for a while now… since she saw a bunch at the bike shop in August.  She came with me a few times back then when I would go to prepare for my triathlon.  Aparna & I decided to get her one was Myan was born.  Of course, since we told Liah would be doing this, she didn’t let us forget!  So I took her to the bike store on Monday and she picked out a bike!

She is SO excited!  It’s a little funny she’s the only member of our family who owns a bike.  The bike is the Trek Float.  It’s a great bike that’s really well built and has a lot of features.  I’m actually planning on teaching Liah how to ride a bike in the near future.  Wish me luck!

ps - the bike has a great feature where the whole pedal assembly comes off, and this essentially turns the bike into a scooter.  The kid uses it like this to learn to balance, then you put the pedals back on so they can learn to pedal and balance at the same time.  We’ll see how well this works in practice…

Liah Praying

October 16th, 2008, in the middle of the afternoon

I’ve blogged about this before, but Liah loves doing puja with her Dadi.  Seriously, she focuses, listens, and just gets really into it.  Oh yeah, please ignore Liah’s Flock of Seagulls hair.  That’s what happen when her dad tries to do her hair.

Boys Sleeping

Speaking of sleeping, here’s Aparna passing the time as both the boys in her life take a nap.

Tired Sister

October 15th, 2008, in the wee hours

Here I am walking Liah to our car from the hospital.  Believe it or not, this was only the 3rd time Liah has fallen asleep in my arms.  From the very beginning, she would always struggle when someone tried to hold her as she was falling asleep.  However, she is so excited about Myan she is fighting sleep more than she usually does, and got so exhausted on Saturday she fell asleep while I was holding her.

I loved it. :)

My Fans

October 15th, 2008, late in the evening

I get a kick out of random people somewhere in the world continue to read my site.  In fact, these unknowns folks seem to read my site more regularly than my friends and family!

This is from someone named Priti

Hi aparna and mohit
Congratulations

I love the website and I think I know your family very well. You have beautiful cute little daughter. I found out that you guys are pregnant with boy again I was excited because same time I am expecting my daughter. Well I won the race by 5 days. She was born on October 5th. She is cute as a liah. At least I think so J. I named her ANOKHEE. She is love of my life.

I like the name MYAN. I was wondering about you to see when you will have him. Well he is here. Life is wonderful when little one fills it with a joy. I had 38 hours labor and since this was first time I was ready to give up after 24 hours but once she was in my arms I thought I could do this again and again. My husband and me are very excited to have her.
Well u takes care and enjoy the new world.
