Raj for Kansas (aka Democracy)
2 years, 1 month ago on Friday, November 17th, 2006, in the wee hours
My quick trip to Wichita last week to help my cousin Raj in his campaign to represent Kansas’ 87th district was an amazing experience. It was my first time to really be a part of our democracy at the ground level. I was barely there 24 hours and it opened my eyes to just how much work is involved in running for office. The picture above is of campaign staff and volunteers calling people on election day to get them to head to the polls. hundreds and hundreds of calls.

Those who know me know I love politics. My cousin Raj is a large reason for that. He’s been active in causes for almost his entire life, and he is the one who took me to the 1996 Democratic National Convention. That was an experience I’ll never forget, and not just because I got to meet President Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
Of course, I do things for Raj. For example, I recently gave him advice on what kind of HDTV to buy. So we’re even.

Raj is going to be in the spotlight for a long time to come.
