A Weekend Without Aparna, Part 1
November 8th, 2004, around lunchtimeWell, I survived another weekend without Aparna. She has gone to Texas for a few days to do more “move stuff” (& visit family).
The weekend started off a bit hectic as Aparna & I woke up at 6:30am Saturday morning. Normally waking up at 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday is not a good thing because it is so early, but in our case it was not a good thing because it was so late! The problem? Aparna had a 7:30am flight to Texas! For 2 people who travel a lot, I do think this is the first time that has ever happened to us. We immediately realized she wouldn’t make her flight and called American Airlines. Thankfully they were able to put her on the next flight out, and she ended up getting to Texas just a few hours later than originally planned, so everything turned out ok.
San Francisco has had a fantastic public art exhibition the past few months called Hearts in SF. The City is now auctioning the hearts off, and Aparna & I are thinking one of them would make a great souvenir of our time living in SF. I hadn’t spent time with Nalima since Monday, so in exchange for treating her to lunch, she agreed to come with me to check out the hearts. Okay, so maybe I didn’t have to bribe her with lunch to spend time with me, but is it really that far-fetched? If you think you’d like one of the hearts, you’re in luck as most of them are being auctioned on Ebay. Select the photo to view some of the amazing hearts that were created for this project.

Yeah, that’s me having a great time watching Nalima shop for water with bubbles. Just a little proof that hanging out with Nalima isn’t always as glamorous as one might think.
And yes, not only did I take pictures while Nalima was grocery shopping, Nalima was a great sport and took a photo of me having a great time pushing her cart.
Ketan, Anji and Siddharth invited me over for dinner Saturday night. Kami & Ila were there with their cute 22-month old, Carina. It was a very fun evening, and Anji’s efforts to get us to reverse our decision to move to Austin are hilarious! Also very funny was Carina calling Ketan by his first name and first name only. It cracked me up to hear this little girl yelling out “KETAN!” I put some photos up from the evening. Here are a couple of them. Just select either of them to view the rest. There are some great pics of the kids!
Oh yeah, and as I’m solo until Wednesday, Ketan and Anji were kind enough to offer me leftovers from the evening (the food was delicious!), and I of course accepted their offer. I didn’t want to be rude after all.
(And the strap is not from a purse! It’s from my “men’s European carry all.”
