Another one bites the dust

4 years, 2 months ago on Friday, October 29th, 2004, in the wee hours

It’s hard to believe, but tonight was Jay’s last night as a citizen of San Francisco. He’s off in the morning to start his new life in LA. Jay moved here from Dallas in 1998, so he managed to survive in crazy San Francisco for 6 years. Of course, he’s been talking about making the move to LA for at least the last 2 years! From helping me find a house for Neil Desai to buy before I moved here, to helping me change a lightbulb last night, Jay has been there for me since the first day before I moved to San Francisco. Really, you just can’t find help that good anymore. It just won’t be the same watching TV anymore without Jay there frantically telling me to “go back” when I try to skip over the commericals on a show I tivo’d, or laughing amazingly loud at TV shows, commercials, movies…anything really. He will be missed. I think Aparna put it best when she said, “It feels like a child is moving out.”

Anyway, we had a fantastic going away get together for Jay last (Wednesday) night at Jade. All of the friends Jay has made over the past 6 years showed up, and the 4 of us had a great time. We did not drink that much (”We” being Aparna & I. Jay got sozzled), and we weren’t even out late, but we sure felt like we partied hard when we woke up this morning. What better reminder that your not in your 20’s anymore than to go out for few drinks on a Wednesday, and be hung over all day Thursday. To put it lightly, today was not the most productive day Jay, Aparna, or I have ever had.
